duty. honor. country.

My Dad was in the Navy during the Korean War.
(This is him with my oldest daughter in the mid 80's.)
Thank you, Dad.
My brother joined the Marines the summer he graduated from high school.
Thank you, Brian.
My son-in-law served in the Coast Guard.
Thank you, Kenny.
Thank you to all who've served our country and
protected our freedom.

  1. Beautiful post. My dad was also in the Korean war. I've got my flag ready to go out tomorrow. Are we still suppose to keep them at half-mast?

  2. Nope, unfurl that flag and let her fly! I checked with the US Dept of Veterans Affairs and the short answer is "no."
    This is the site if you want to know all the regulations! http://www1.va.gov/opa/feature/celebrate/halfstaf.asp
    Happy Veterans Day!

  3. Thank you for this lovely post...today we remember and give thanks. Also thanks to you for leaving me well wishes on my blog the other day! xoxoo

  4. What a nice tribute to your family.
