tutorial for a rainy day

Imagine how pretty these would be in in PINK
or a color to match a party theme
or white with yellow centers added to make daisies
(the mr.'s favorite flower).

sweet finds

I stopped in at the local thrift store yesterday and
delightedly picked up these FUN
 pink-handled utensils...

and several WONDERFUL books...

including a vintage copy of Dickens'
 A Christmas Carol

and a beautiful 1908 copy of a play entitled
Pelleas and Melisande
(originally published in 1894)..

I'd never heard of it, but golden crowns on the cover
and the beautiful illustrations with pellum pages in between
were just irresistible!

Each page has lovely green designs bordering the text.

I actually had table settings in mind when I first picked it up,
but I've become intrigued,
and I simply must read the story first
before I make any decisions about pulling out the pages!

happy vbf!

I found this at the local thrift shop.
It looks hand embroidered.
I wasn't exactly sure what it was,
but I liked it and I thought that
maybe one of my VBF friends
could tell me if it has any
other purpose besides
just
being
pretty!
Happy VBF!

relief from the humidity

We've had many days of cool, drizzly weather this summer, but for the past couple of days, we've been feeling the heat and humidity. We seem to slow down without trying and air conditioning beckons… a good time to spend a sizeable portion of the day at the local thrift shop just perusing the wares. :) Here are a few of my favorite finds for today. I discovered the sweetest smelling soaps from Sweden, fun "jewels" and a teapot embellished with pink roses...

Tomorrow my friend and I have plans to see Julie and Julia…I think it sounds like the perfect flick for a new blogger and her caterer friend, and the theater is air conditioned. Perfect.
